DA says + Kat says = Our Wedding Blog

Kat’s Bridal Shower

I am looking forward to my bridal shower this Saturday. Joan, my maid of honor and close friend since elementary, coordinated the event.

We agreed to meet at the venue an hour before it starts to view another prototype of the table setting for the wedding. I am making some changes to make the tables look more romantic and appealing. (Thanks to Little Dot and Bluscarf for their comments and suggestions.) Since Joan is an HRM graduate and she specializes in Events, I figured it will be good to have an expert around when we finalize.

Having the prototype on the same day as the bridal shower may not be as dramatic but it is very practical and cost-efficient. While it is true that I am not paying for any of it, I still wouldn’t want our caterer’s efforts to go to waste.

Hacked!

Somebody has been trying for months to hack into all my online accounts. Today, this person succeeded. She managed to change my passwords
for my yahoo, gmail and blogger accounts. I was unable to log in temporarily. Our wedding blog was restricted so nobody could access it.

For what purpose? I can only surmise. But the same person left nasty messages in our shout box in the past. My counter also shows that she visits this blog and searches my other online accounts on a regular basis. So far, I know her IP address, her ISP provider and her location. Up until now, I refused to write about her because I did not want to waste my time on some envious immature brat who has nothing better to do. This time, she has gone too far.

To my stalker/hacker, here is what I have to say: GET A LIFE. You obviously don’t have one.

DA + Kat’s Wedding Coordinator

We already have our wedding coordinator. DA told me to go with my gut feel so I chose Ai Acosta. Here are my reasons for picking her:

1. I can easily relate with her. Having a similar background certainly helps. She is also a graduate of Broadcast Communication in UP Diliman and she is just a batch ahead of me.

2. She immediately responds to my text messages, emails and phone calls. This was actually the deciding factor for me.

Vangie Go of Wedding Treasures did not return my first two phone calls. It also took her some time to email me her packages. I also got a bit turned off when the information she sent me through text regarding the number of staff and the final amount differed from the proposal she sent me through email.

After the bad experiences we had with some of our suppliers, I can only keep my fingers crossed and pray that we made the right choice.

Looking For A Wedding Coordinator

Our wedding is just a month away and I am starting to panic.

DA was able to finally convince me to hire a professional coordinator. I have been so busy with work again lately that I am finding it more and more difficult to devote time to the preparations. I am hoping to take a break at least 2 weeks before our wedding day. And by break, I mean no client meetings, no pleadings, not even phone calls which are in any way related to work. I want to give my 100% to our wedding. DA and I spent the last year carefully planning all the wedding details and I wouldn’t want our efforts to go to waste.

I realize now that I need a point person who can execute all of my instructions come our wedding day. It is not enough that I give detailed written directions to each supplier as some of them are wont to disregarding instructions. I am a self-confessed OC bride. When I want something done, I want it done right and in accordance with my instructions down to the last detail. I guess that means that I need a coordinator who is just as OC as I am.

I immediately got in touch with several coordinators early this week. Jody Liwanag and Clarice Avinente are not available on our date. I am choosing between Vangie Go of Wedding Treasures (who came in highly recommended by Little Dot) and Ai Acosta.

The Good News

First, it was Paul Vincent. Then, it was my dressmaker giving me a headache for not following my instructions.

I had my dressmaker redo all the bridesmaid gowns because he failed to copy the designs I wanted. I almost pulled out of the deal had he not been apologetic and willing to fix his mess. Good thing that my wedding gown looked as good as he promised.

I took some photos but the lighting was bad so the gown looks yellowish. I used adobe and applied a grainy effect to give the pictures added texture. That’s my Tito Rene holding my gown in the background.

Prenup Disaster

DA and I were both crushed when we saw the “enhanced” prenup pictures posted by Paul Vincent in his blog. I couldn’t keep my eyes off the dirt and the folds on the canvasses we used as backgrounds during the photo shoot. I expected Paul Vincent to edit these imperfections since I have seen his previous work. I was so disappointed that he did not even bother to crop these out. He also concentrated on scrapbooking and completely forgot about our Korean telenovela concept despite the numerous pictures I previously sent him. *big sigh*

I thought he completely understood our concept. *another big sigh*

When I called Paul Vincent to tell him about my observations, he gave me so many excuses and he was never apologetic. He told me that the effect I wanted could not be achieved because the lighting and the studio we rented were not similar to those used for commercial photo shoots. Guess who suggested our studio? He did. In the middle of our conversation, he passed the phone to Ivy. I felt disrespected because I always dealt with him and rarely talked to his wife about our transactions.

Ivy was no comfort either. She said all the things that a customer does not want to hear. Sure she said she would try to fix the backgrounds but she kept defending their work. She told me that different people have different standards of beauty and in their opinion, the pictures they posted were good. When I pointed out the dirt in the canvass, she said she could remove it but she would not have the time to fix the backgrounds for all the album pictures because they had a lot of other customers. She also told me not to make a big deal out of it.

After a brief moment of indecision, I called again to tell them that I wanted out and asked for a refund. Ivy told me that they would only charge me PhP8,000 for the 3-hour photo shoot instead of the original price of PhP12,000. She also said that they would not charge the PhP5,000 non-refundable reservation fee anymore. They sent a text message to reiterate as if to say that I should be grateful for the consideration. I did not reply anymore because I knew that it would only be a waste of my time.

DA and I have nothing to be grateful for. We paid for their service. We were the ones who suffered damages because we could have gotten a better package with another photographer had they told us months before that they could not deliver.

Their only saving grace — they deposited the money immediately upon my demand. They offered to assist me in finding a photographer who could handle my concept. They should have referred me to another photographer before we started with the prenup, not after. I explained the concept to them very well and even showed them the sample pictures. They should have known from the start that they would not be able to handle it.

I should have paid attention to the bad reviews I read about Paul Vincent. Too bad I had to experience it first hand to believe.

Well, talent is never enough and bad service is a recipe for disaster.

To OC Brides

I am a control freak and one of the important lessons that I am learning throughout this whole preparation stage…

Things do not always go as planned.

My Wedding Present

Instead of getting the Wind, DA got me a Compaq Presario B1200. He said it is my anniversary/wedding/christmas/birthday gift rolled into one. I don’t mind since it looks so much better and it can do so much more than the Wind. It is actually the same model as his laptop, only mine is a tad faster because of the slight increase in Ghz and a 2GB memory. Whatever those things mean.

He also got me a very fashionable Targus laptop bag. Of course he was pointing to a plain black bag which did not appeal to me in any way since my heart was already set on this…

Photoshop Craze

I am currently working on a new project — editing our prenup pictures using Photoshop. I am, more than ever, determined to learn photography and master this software program.

Yesterday, I spent about 5 hours learning how to 1) remove the old background; 2) insert a new background; 3) convert people in a picture into smart objects; and 4) resize smart objects. I came up with 3 photos which I posted in the entry immediately preceding this.

Today, I spent only 30 minutes replicating the procedure to come up with these pictures…

So why the sudden obsession with Photoshop? That’s a topic which I will discuss lengthily in another post.
